Queta Beltran - Principal
Site Council

Monroe elementary is a community of learners--students, staff, parents neighbors, and local San Leandro businesses--who collaboratively work together to ensure that we serve all students in a nurturing and safe environment, focusing on a fair and equitable education for all.  Last year, our students’ academic growth exceeded growth targets in all areas set by the state.  We are very proud of our students and the supportive efforts made by our entire learning community.  Our goal is to build a team which holds the principal, teachers and students accountable for all the California content standards in all areas.  Together with the district, we will uphold our commitment to the No Child Left Behind goals whereby all students are to be proficient or above by the year 2014.

James Monroe Elementary is a high achieving, culturally diverse learning community, which strives towards academic excellence within an inclusive anti-racist environment.  Through our school’s Equity Team and Care Team we will be developing comprehensive and ongoing dialogue and practices that will ensure our goal of equity for all students.  We are committed to holding courageous conversations about race and its impact on students, about closing the academic gap among student groups and restructuring learning systems to meet student academic goals.

As Principal, I speak on behalf of all our staff in welcoming all parents, volunteers and visitors toMonroe.  We ask you to share your talents and concerns and become a part of the responsive learning community here at James Monroe Elementary.

Sincerely,

Queta Beltran
