FALL FUND RAISER
The Fall Fund Raiser is a vital part of our fund raising efforts to support the bulk of activities for the student body. The fund supports buses for field trips and the continuation of Oceans Month. These programs make up the majority of PTO expenses so in order to maintain them it is with the hope that all of our students, faculty and parents in our community help support this drive. The Fall Fund Raiser this year will run from September 6th - September 28th. Purchases may also be made online so don't forget to ask out-of-town family and friends to help by purchasing items at www.QSP.com. Enter Account #710327733 and the school name to register.
Thanks for your support!

HEAD ROOM PARENT COORDINATOR
Room Parents are a vital part of volunteerism at James Monroe. They provide an irreplaceable link between the teachers and the parent community. Room Parents work with the teachers to plan classroom parties, organize volunteers for field trips, and coordinate teacher appreciation activities. Room parents are often asked by their teachers to assist with classroom activities and projects (e.g. school basket raffle items, carnival booth). Responsibilities vary from teacher to teacher. One Head Room Parent and an assistant Room Parent are usually selected for each class.

LUNCH ROOM HELPERS
Parents manage/assist the students during the lunch shifts. Assistance may range from opening juice boxes to locate missing lunches.
NOON DUTY/PLAYGROUND
Parents manage and assist students during outdoor recess. This is a truly great way to connect with students as they express themselves in choosing what to play, who to play with. Its also an excuse to revisit your childhood and freely climb on the monkey bars, play dodge ball and romp around on the play structure. Parents will frequently be called upon to manage typical playground conflicts and disputes.
SPAGHETTI/CRAB
FEED
The Spaghetti/Crab feed has now become an annual tradition at James Monroe. Members from the community, parents, students and faculty have enjoyed this event and really look forward to it each year. This event is held in the multi-purpose room. Active student council members work with the PTO/Dad's club which lends to the events great success. Pre tickets sales start by early January and continue until the scheduled date which usually falls the weekend before Valentine's Day. This event date is still to be determined. You will not only enjoy the fantastic food and good company but you will have the opportunity to win some great prizes and have a really good time.

The PTO/Dad's Club works in conjunction with the faculty and the room parents to coordinate this event. Basket themes are selected by grade. Each room parent will work with her/his teacher and communicate with parents to make donations of items within the theme of the basket. Baskets are displayed in the front of the school just before the Spring break. Tickets are sent home with students for family and friends to purchase. Funds from this drive help in maintianing programs for the student body.

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE
Without a doubt, one of the highlights at the end of the school year is the presentation of the annual school yearbook. The joy and glee on faces as students turn page after page looking for their faces and the faces of friends and classmates. So much work goes into making that one day special. It starts with volunteer parents who serve as classroom photographers. These volunteers need to make sure that their class has enough quality photographs of each student for the yearbook.
